The mountains, glens, rivers, lochs and woods of Perthshire provide a natural haven for wildlife.

Loch of the Lowes is a Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve at Dunkeld and is a regular nesting site for ospreys. The visitor centre is open from April to August and the hide is open all year.

Loch Leven National Nature Reserve and Vane Farm support a huge range of wildlife from ducks to butterflies and it is the chosen winter home to thousands of geese. The RSPB visitor centre is open all year.

At the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve, you can view the stunning mountain scenery and take a closer look at the beautiful alpine plants. The visitor centre is open from May to September and there are guided walks in the summer.

Other places of natural beauty where you might catch a glimpse of a pine marten, grouse, capercaillie, deer and the red squirrel include Killiecrankie, The Hermitage, Falls of Bruar and Schiehallion to name but a few.
